Got Lost Just a Little

February 16, 2026

I managed to miss my turn two different times on my bike ride, leading to a 35 miler instead of a 31 miler. The first was on my way North, when I missed CR 68 and turned on 70 (adding two miles), and the second when I missed the turn onto CR 15, which you can see in the top left of my map (and adding another two miles). It struck me how easy it is to add mileage on the bike because neither of those “mistakes” cost me much energy at all. I just kept on cruising, spinning my pedals, and everything was fine.

This ride was my fastest long ride by quite a bit, improving my 50k (31 miles) PR by nearly twenty minutes. I got into a groove on the way back, and the slight downhill and slight tailwind proved to be a huge speed boost. The longer ride felt really good, and I’m looking forward to adding more of these in the future to boost my training volume. Likely not all this hard, but my times should be ticking down and speed ticking up for sure as I get fit.

The morning run was more of a shaker, quite easy and at a low(ish) heartrate. I was hungry when I ran which is never a good sign, still working on consuming enough calories to support long-term high-volume training.

I’ll have an easier day tomorrow, I’m thinking probably a nice long swim.

Until then,

Ben
